There are a few people who are of the opinion that new fighters need to be put through the ringer to see if they're tough enough or some bs. Thankfully it seems to be a minority opinion. I have only seen one or two people on the AA express it that I can recall.

I used paper so that I could see how something more rigid would behave around the joints.

I wanted to use what I had sitting around because I didn't want to buy a bunch of expensive materials and end up with something that looked nice but didn't work. I used heavy canvas that I already had. Thanks for your comments guys. :)

I usually do ties instead of a tube so you don't have to worry about the size of the pole. I could do it for 30 bucks US including shipping, but I'm not sure how well that sort of shape will work out in light weight silk. I've never done one before.

I made about 3 different paper templates til I got mine right. When I was reasonably sure about the paper one and after looking at a ton of pictures, I cut out the fabric (instead of leather since it's what I had on hand) then tried that on. After that, I made a paper template for the kydex splints ...

Hey Gaston, I was wondering if maybe you would be interested in cash or trade in the future for some rondels to match? I've been looking at more pictures and manuscripts and was thinking they might look spiffy.

Not at all. I can take a better one of the pair when the other one is finished if you like. I need to knock out some banners first but I am hoping to finish it next week. If I don't run out of rivets anyway. I used a hell of a lot more than I thought I would.

I am hoping they turn out to work as well as they look. It's entirely experimental.

The back side is covered with canvas too so you can't see the padding on the splints.

The best part is that it shows how you can come up with a nice harness on the cheap. When my kit is done I might write up a thing for people interested in upgrading their harness without breaking the bank. It didn't cost me much to put this stuff together.

Thanks. I can't wait to put all the rest together and try it all on when I get my helm. I thought even if I suck I want to at least look like a badass. The hubby's cuisses aren't super tall as it is. There's a few inches of gap at the top, but other than that they fit well. I think part of it though...

Mostly finished the right bit of my leg harness today.

I had to wait for more resist to show up before I could do some banners so I mostly finished my right cuisse today. All that's left to do is put the splints on the greaves when I get them and attach the leather to the bottom of the cop. It's just taped in right now. Anyhow for an experiment I think ...

Review: Hardened leather greaves by Audax

I traded a banner for a pair of hardened leather greaves for my husband made by Audax. They arrived today and I am really happy with them. They match the leg harness he already had perfectly and they're going to look great on the field. They're well constructed and came strapped and ready to use. Th...
