I'd be happy to make a little pennon with the archive badge on it for free. Just tell me where to send it. Thank you! Now are you sure you wouldn't accept payment for your talents? You are a merchant... The pennon would go to Windrose Armoury for attachment to the spear I'm buying. IF for some reas...

The apple's superiority dates back to ancient times when the greeks themselves told takes of the golden fruit and great contests were held with an apple of gold as the prize. Nobody ever wrote shit about limes.

That's basically my method and materials but I find that ironing and steaming is unnecessary and messy. I blow dry the resist and then throw the finished banners in the dryer on the hottest cycle. Then I hand wash them gently in cool water to make sure the dye is set and hang them up to dry. I tried...

Almost forgot. Bart Hightower has a really good tutorial on making them. We do it pretty much the same except I don't do the steaming bit because it's a pain in the ass and my dryer does just as good a job. We just use slightly different dyes and a different frame setup but the end result is the sam...

You could always give it a light hand washing back at your camp. A little teeny bit of mild soap and a wash basin would be fine for getting the worst of the stink out. Then just hang it up to dry.

The banner on their site is I believe a silk 'painted' banner like the ones I make. The edge is sort of drawn with the resist which acts as fray stopper. They're pretty and durable and can last for years. I have a whole gallery of similar banners with rounded ends and swallow tailed ends you can che...

I consider aiming for the groin to be just rude. I'm female and it took me off the field to get hit in the groin intentionally by a spear. I wouldn't do it unless this was real combat and I was trying to kill someone.

Last year was a horrible one economically for a lot of people. So I don't think you can really use last year as a good example for war attendance.

That's my understanding because with other charges like birds, an eagle displayed will conflict with a falcon or a raven or whatever because at a distance they look pretty much the same.

I think they're probably just like some charges like birds where because they are so similar in shape, a cross pretty much will conflict with any other cross even if they are slightly different.

I attended this past year for the first time and let me tell you, camping in sub-freezing weather is not for the weak of spirit. If you were to fly in, my recommendation would be to have whoever is supplying you shelter bring a metric ton of wool blankets, furs, whatever they can spare. If you thin...

One of the problems I have encountered when trying to dig up factual information about historical banners is that the terminology isn't always precise. I don't think it really matters that much in the context of the question anyhow.

My first major war was Estrella (never been to Pennsic though) and it was magic! Due to the time of year though the weather can vary quite a bit, so keep a close eye on the weather report and always pack something for cold and or wet weather.

There are no hard and fast rules, but for a standard or modern flag (which are inteded to trail in the breeze) I would try to get it as high as you can get it. Simply for the sake of not wanting it flapping around in people's faces, I'd say atleast 6' + length of the standard. For a gonfalon or ban...

I made a jacketed pole that breaks down into 3 foot sections out of dowel you can get at home depot. I wouldn't want to fly a heavy fabric standard from it for fear it wouldn't be sturdy enough but for silk banners it works great.

You need to replace electrolytes too, so drink some kind of suppliment drink in addition to the water or you can still end up feeling cruddy and sore.
