True. But there are several harder rings of cartilage that give your larynx and whatnot shape. It's those parts that worry me, so I wear a steel gorget. People can do what they want, but I don't want to be at a war hours from a hospital and get intubated and flown out because I took a rare but stiff...

There`aren't even any bones in the front of your neck, and not much muscle. It's mostly soft tissue and cartilage.

I am gonna wear my fencing gorget underneath mine. I am wary about having just the aventail and I have a long neck. I don't find the gorget uncomfortable and it doesn't weight all that much anyway.

Well, we're not a very big group so making a huge structure is a problem, what with the setup, break down and storage. And there's no permanent storage on site at Estrella. I had some decent plans drawn up but everybody's biggest concern was wind, which at Estrella can be pretty common.

I think I recall that topic coming up before here and you still have to wear a rigid gorget of some type with c-spine protection. I could be mistaken though.

The only reason in my mind to use plastic is price, I fight in this stuff, and since it's blue, I call it my battle thermos. Plastic does not pass heat. Say it with me, and think of Pennsic, "Plastic does not pass heat." I have the stuff in black and never had any problem with heat in it....

It depends a lot on the event venue, but I can't remember spending more than 20 bucks for a fair sized non war event here in Atenveldt. The larger wars where you have 1k+ people can be a bit more though.

Encampment Gates?

My Shire has been mulling over the encampment gate issue for years but we can never decide on a design and or course we procrastinate and nothing gets built. I had some ideas a couple years ago for making a nice gate painted to look like a castle gate or whatever but everyone's objection seemed to b...
