Re: Hockey Shoulder Pads - Do or Don't?
I would say probably close to half of all women fighters in the gallery I threw together are wearing it, with a lot of variance in body type.

Lots and lots of gals wearing lamellar too. A lot of guys hmm and hawww over the flexible chest protection but I figure if it was that big a deal you would see a lot fewer women wearing it.

My first thought is that those spaulders are too big for you. You want your spaulders to cup your deltoid and your upper arm. I also think they are hanging too low. They should hang more like this lady's. http://s538.photobucket.com/albums/ff347/isabellaevangelista/Female%20Armored%20Combat%20Fighte...

I still want pictures of these pauldrons. Maybe they are just too big for you in general. Or maybe you could remove pieces of them or something. I have steel spaulders that are pointed to an arming coat and I never have problems with them. In fact they have saved me from some hard shots with polearm...

Re: Training styles and equipment questions
If you set hundreds of rivets yourself, it will give you pride in your kit and invest you in it. I also think that;s the greatest advice ever. Malcolm the Bold helped me make my first coat of plates and taught me how to set rivets. I took those skills with me over years and it served me very well. E...

Re: Hockey Shoulder Pads - Do or Don't?
I was thinking of suggesting the same thing to be honest. Do you have a pic of your current kit? Maybe we can help you make it work without buying modern stuff you don't need. There's other more historical options you might be able to go with too. I've seen some people wearing little low profile sho...

Burgundian pennons for sale, $25 each incl. shipping CONUS
Hey everybody. I have had these little pennons hanging around the house for quite a while. They are still for sale. They are about 12" x 3' long, hand painted silk and patterned after the ones employed by a part of the army of Charles the Bold. $25 including shipping CONUS each, or $40 for the pair....

I've had a pair of the custom tall boots for almost 8 years now and they are worth every penny and worth the wait. They've kept my feet warm, dry and comfy for years. I waited a year for mine. And I ordered them after the recommendations of many friends who had custom boots as well.

Re: Taking orders for silk banners. Update!
Inside display doesn't do them the right justice, but it's a good way to store them so they don't get stained/moldy/etc.

I don't know how to do that. I just wrapped a pile of them in foil then nestled the pack of nails into a bed of hot coals and left them there until the whole thing was cool. I went inside and did other stuff while they baked.

Copper nails are expensive as hell where I live, but for a third the price I bought galvanized roofing nails and annealed them in my BBQ. Worked like a charm and now I have a whole jar full of several sizes.

Re: Silk Banner tutorial
You can order silk by the yard from them as well. The scarves are just cheaper and easier to work with. I don't like to do banners much bigger than 3' x 10', and even at that size they are really annoying to work on. The more fabric you start working on, the floppier the whole thing is. You can sew ...

I filmed it then did a bunch of experiments and I need to add my comments as to the results, so I need to do it over again. I am hoping to have it done soon but I was a bit swamped the last few weeks trying to rush orders out. I will get it up as soon as I can though.

Here are some threads on covered armor. You can do a lot with cool hidden armor on the cheap and spend more on the parts of your kit you can't make yourself or that will really give you a more historical look. Some of it also pertains to how to look good as a new fighter on a small budget. http://fo...

I figured some people's belt colors may have changed but I just went with what I had at the time. :/ I was happy to take on the project. I can't participate in the COTT yet myself because my kit h...
