Because if you ask 10 SCA fighters their opinion of the rules, you will get 11 different answers. :D

The "three points down" is not a rule from any of the marshal's books that Im aware of, but rather a common description of what a helpless opponent looks like for those who can't seem to tell. Same thing for the "90 degree" rule. I have seen it used to explain to a new fighter who is still not that ...

I think a big factor for alot of people in deciding to buy stainless is where they live. 1. Once a month, move the fighter practice to a nearby small town city park. Have all the fighters meet up and caravan to the park. In the course of a year, you will probably hit every small town with a good distance of your shire/barony. Don't do this in Quakertown PA. "You guys can't do that here...

Victory without honor is an unseasoned dish. It will satisfy your appetite, but it wont taste very good.

My knight told me on day one after I squired, "If you cant win with your honor intact, whats the point?"

For me the important distinction here is the mental state of the person in the fight. If your goal is to win the fight, thats fine. If your goal is to deliberately cause pain or hurt your opponent, thats wrong. To be hurt or injured is an unfortunate possibility in our sport and is just a risk you t...

Anyone that walks onto the field with the intent to hurt someone and seeks fame for doing it, needs to re-evaluate their definition of chivalry and humility.

You can win a fight without itending to hurt your opponent.

What I dont understand is that in alot of these cases, the armorer says the items are at a certain level of completion, when it appears they are not. Therefore, they are flat out lying. Animal, Most experienced SCA fighters would have little to no difficulty fighting in Adria. The armor requirements are usually the biggest hurdle. This is a pretty classic example of a rigged survey If you want people to tell you what they think are the two most important attributes, ask them to do that. If you want them to pick from a list you offer, phrase the question so that you are asking them to prioritize your list. As it is you've tol...

Hello Thorkil, Very nice work. There are a couple of issues that you will have to overcome. The boots were okay for the money, although I think their sizing is a little on the small side (i.e. a size 9 is really a size 8 or 8 1/2).
