Shield Edging

Ive been using leather pieces, but they get destroyed too often. Ive seen similiar items on some shields...

Im currently using one of the visored sugarloaf helms from Beathan. I couldnt be happier with its construction and use. While my helm did have some minor imperfections, I think it was more than worth the money. Its constructed from 14/16 gauge stainless and have fought with it at two events now. No ...

The Toys for Tots tournament we hold here in our shire routinely draws alot of fighters. I believe last year we had over 100 fighters in the list and the year before that it was 90+.

We also gathered about 1500 toys for the Marine Corps League. :D

Greetings,

Thanks very much for posting the link to the videos. Its always nice to see how other groups are playing their game. The biggest thing about it that I personally wouldnt enjoy too much is that it is a point based system with judges and referees.

Again, thanks for sharing. :)

Are the tents still available? I just noticed the advertisement today, so I guess I missed out on the chance for free shipping. How much would shipping be to the zip code 65109 in the US.

Thanks,

On the topic of tools. If this is being done as a great "How To" process, then I would suggest we come up with a standard set of common tools and insist the armor be made with those tools. The tools should be common and available at any hardware or leather supply store. For example, leather hand pun...

Ive been fighting in the SCA for almost 19 years. In all that time, the only injury I ever received that kept me from fighting was a pole-arm shot to the shins. The guy that threw it did it deliberately, in my opinion, and it was during a melee. It took my leg out from underneath me while I was movi...

Depending on the size of the center ring, determines how many rings you should start with.

Personally, I try to use an even number of rings so that I can expand the size quickly. I usually start with 6 or 8 rings in the center.

I once wore a sallet for fighting. I decided attach a white horse's mane to the helm to make it distinct. People said it wasnt period. Why? There were no horse manes in the middle ages? No one in the 15th century ever attached a horse mane to their helm? It may not have been fashionable or popular,...

Greetings and Well Met, For years I have seen people describe the items that people make or wear as period or not-period. Sometimes though, it seems they are using the term "period" incorrectly. I agree with what has been said about the wooden shields being "too fragile." With the rules as written you are giving too much advantage to the people using pole-arms.
