The confusing thing is that in the period you are interested in, a "Knight" (Ritter) could have been too poor to own a full suit, yet a rich burger, Junker or Edelmann could well have owned one. These were all of the "landowner" class, where a "Ritter" may not have land. The SCA paradigm does not qu...

Now, people always ask questions, but no, this isn't for me. Does anyone have any place on line with some nice information about authentic (versus the usual SCA style) bellydancing garb. I aplogize for not knowing the name for it offhand. Patterns, of course, would be a plus, but any nice informati...

I've had good results with ZOUT removing ink stains and it does have some affect on leather dye stains. Unfortunately some of the leather dyes run badly with sweat. Its the acid. Re: Ugly CA Quivers at Pennsic
The worst was a 3 gallon white plastic bucket that was strapped onto a fellow's back via a chest harness. Sheesh, all he had to do is spray adhesive some kind of cloth on it and it would have looked better, and would even have been somewhat correct in shape. There are large diameter tube type quive...

We though about something a little earlier. With a good tan, I could pass as the other side of my heritage. He could be a freedman trapper who traded for me. Then he could own me . Thats true. Just a short update. Our Seneschal has not found a public place we can hold a canton practice. Wyrm, Probably THE most important visual factor in making a costume look authentic is fabric choice. In the archives of the yahoo egroup GermanRenCostume, Katherine Barich translated a number of woodcut descriptions which included colors. She found a few with more than 2 or 3 colors. Of course we could make it a private practice, but then the Canton would have no activities happening and essentially would die as an entity.
