<B> Hi! I wear the crash pads gate pants under a pair of baggy pants and no other protection. I fight an oval centergrip as well as spear and great sword.

By themselves, they will take the edge off, but you will still bruise. I am considering Pterges over them when I make my next set of lamellar, but thus far I work on the "don't get hit there" theory.

As for heat - I live in Southern Louisiana - I will hold our heat and humidity against yours any day. They breathe well and are just fine.

Thats exactly what ive been getting at, ive had no prob in the pennsic heat in my crash pad pants, even worn with wool pants and wool putties they are still fine.
They are a mountain bike pant, not a winter insulated alpine gate pant.
They rock period, i hear they are making a shirt as well, ill be getting one.
Ill take a pic of mine and my cops as well, so light comfy and protective.

The gate pants are actually pretty breathable and not insulated - much to my surprise. Since they went to the knee, I really hoped to be able to do away with kneepads, but unfortunately no dice. The kneepads on the pants don't wrap around enough to the inner knee.

I have been more than happy with them, too. They are a lot less bulky and a lot more flexible than hockey pants, so they hide a lot better.

That good to know Broinfinn, i figgured they would be insulated since the gate pants i used to wear when i skied were heavily padded and insulated
I wear these http://www.crash-pads.com/dept.asp?no=1 and love them.
