Post by Rasper77 »

Anyone got pictures of there sides closers on lamellar?
Im looking for ideas. I want to change my buckeling/tying method
on my new set.
And maybe why you chose it?

mine has three buckles up the back.

My leather lamellar closes with 3 straps on the shield arm side. some reason the photo won't show but here is the direct link.

mine closes with 2 buckles on the shield side. then again I'm only 5'9" or so. it's easy. the buckles can be cheap or nice your choice. I would make sure to get a buckle that keeps the excess leather straps past the buckle close to you body. little leather bits sticking straight out make it look funny.

I just laced it all the way closed and pull it on over my head like a tank top.

A series of Loops (with keepers and buttons) the reason I used them was a more period flavour and keeping a thematic look to essentially metal lacing cards.

:P
Also this Particular body was done as Macedonian Lamallar (Alexander the TOOL period)
The buttons WERE a little large with this one

Ive thought about that, but having the sides unbuckle makes it pack alot tighter in bag.

I based mine off of the design like the WMA pic above, and will say that it had worked very well for me.

you can always do the side buckles similar to the ones i posted and do it on both sides. this will keep it (almost) completely flat when you pack it.

My thought right now is similar to yours since I only have 1 more day till its getting packed, but Im added a belt layer.
I did the same on my last kit but just on one side.
When back from war I think im going to redo it more the White mountain armorys, cause I really like how it looks. But time... blah

Im working on edging it at the moment, then just waiting for my Girlfriend to bring me the leather for where my belt is going so I can add the last row. Ill post pics tomorro probaly when it all together and complete.. I could post it in a bit, but without the last layer, it wont look right.

Thanks for the photos.

I still need to edge mine. I've been slacking. it's still missing that finishing touch. I think I'll go do that now.
