Glad to say, I am finally plastic free! Sold my MXR legs at Border Raids, and finished my new ones. No belt or harness required, they stay on just fine with straps and my leg bindings.
Here's pics:
Here is what they look like on:
Edited to replace picture with newer, mo' beddah one.

Great job! I really like the coverage they look to offer. Also, that is great that you don't need a support belt. Is it because it is so light or is the strapping just in perfect positioning?
However, I do have a question: why did you make them covered if you wear your pants over them? Would not your old uncovered plastic have served the same?
....
Unless, of course, you merely wanted to go more period with your materials- if so, bravo sir.

Thanks for the kind words!
They are light weight, and the straps are positioned to hold them in place, although "perfect" is likely up for debate
I wanted legs that are more period, even if they are covered, but mostly I wanted to fight in armour I made myself. I don't work in steel, so I had to buy my helm, and at the time I got it the kidney belt was faster to buy than make. Otherwise, gorget, bazubands, demi gauntlets and now legs are all made by my hand. It's what I love about the SCA... learning it by doing it
