Greetings from Germany!
wow.

How much for a pair like these, but with blackened metal
instead of shiny? It would be a visually 'low-profile' gauntlet
for a crusader 1230-ish era kit.

kits

Post by whonew »

I have 10 "kits" near completion on the bench. These are all 16GA. mild steel wisby style. The prices are $275USD for all metal parts needed to make a pair of gauntlets like the previous pic but with cuff plates. I sell these finished for $475[the blue pair XXX large] so you do some riveting and sowing and save $200 I will post pics this weekend
PS 2 sets sold , 8 left

give a choice?

this is a complete kit, would people be more interested if the pieces were riveted to leather strips? Then just sewing would be needed.

Wisby gauntlet kit

Post by BNRichard »

That's a fair price Whonew. Given the amount of fiddly work involved and the fact that I have no time right now, I'm thinking hard on it. Hmmm....Blue the metal bits..rivet and sew...black gloves = THE KITTY'S NIPPLES!
Nice.
Richard.

You said 275 for the kit right? Huh... Time to talk to the lady and find out if its feasible. She'll probably say no after the nearly 400 bucks I'm dropping towards Eric for a helm, elbows, and knees. But I can ask because those are gorgeous!

Post by whonew »

Would more people buy this kit if all they had to do was sew? It would another $100

So 375 for the kit, only sewing needed?
