lately i've had problems with my forge. it guzzles up loads of wood and does not heat up enough. so i thought if i could put it in a smaller container and then force loads of air into it, it would be ideal. It just so happens that i had half a failed great helm lying round. i punched a hole in the side near the bottom and filled the helmet with burning wood. used a foot pump to pump air in and voila. a portable forge. it gets up to about 1500 degrees. I just goes to show that there is a use for everything. just thought i'd share that with you.
