Working leather?

Post by Cisco »

Hey guys. I have a friend who is trying to make himself a new set of armor. He likes the muscled body look (and the little bastard can actually pull it off).

The pic he saw and liked was here (second picture, guy with a shaved head, muscled leather breastplate, war skirt):

And I have absolutely no idea how to make a leather breastplate like that. Do you guys have any info on how to make it (or where to buy a similar one)?

That one looks like good paint over vacuform plastic.
To actualy make one in leather would be labor intensive.

I would sugest watching Martha Stewart tomarrow. One of the top leather artists will be doing a two part Segment.

If you just want that one piece you're better off buying it. The materials and tools you have to buy will pretty much cost the price of a full breastplate, not to mention the labor you have to put in and since this is your first time you don't have any guarantee of the results.

One that comes to mind is Dark Horse Custom Leather, Magnus of the Dark Wyvern on the archive here.

Cisco, I would suggest trying to get him in touch with either Ingelri or Owen. Both would have the shop and experience to offer him help. If your friend wants to make it instead of buy it.

Dude what the hell man? It's Crispin, he just doesn't get on the AA much.

I FFFAAARRR from 'can pull off' a muscled breastplate. Unless it's a 'muscled and covered with 100 lbs of tub' breastplate (i.e. globose). :)

Here I thought you were looking for the easy way to get "definition", as opposed to the gym. I would try looking up Owen, as he and Crispin may get along fairly well.
