Mongrel's Armor Experiments
Mongrel's Armor Experiments
I've been working on my "first" kit. All of the armor I've been wearing up until now has either been loaner, bought, gifted, or otherwise not 'mine' to say. So after spending a year observing and waiting to get back home I've come up with the vision of how I want my armor to look. Attached are the pictures of the first steps in production. The torso protection is two parts. The top portion is the pecs of a musculata wrapping around to protect the spine and bottoms of the shoulder blades.
here it is with the duct tape form.

and this one with the scalemaille under it.

After punching all of the holes needed, it will be cased and then hardened in the oven.

It should be tank proof with the split rings. Looks good.

Okay, so its all cut out and fits me like a glove but I'm having trouble forming and molding the pecs. I'll be trying several different methods to shape the leather but right now all I have is frustration.

I think dishing would work for you if done right. I am still here in Manhattan you are welcome to bring it over and see what we can work out.
Revenge is a matter of style.
Went over to Josh W's place today and got half of a form hammered out for the pecs. Will be fabricating the negative form tomorrow, then i'll try casing and hardening the leather. Pictures to follow in the next update.

It looks like you are back from the sandbox...
Welcome home Soldier!!!!

Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience
