Not Armour but something neat

Post by jamesn_13 »

I made this for my mom for her birthday on the 27 of January, in two days. this was my first attempt, in brass, at a flower. The next one will be steel, and a copper one will follow.

Way cool!

Better than real ones, too, because this one won't fade away. :)

Rather then me trying to explain how I did this, I'll post up the link to the wonderful tutorial I used.

You know, I was thinking about doing something really similar to that for a crest. Thanks for posting that. The idea I had in my head was a lot simpler and would have looked crappy per the comparison. Now I have some idea how to do it decently.

Hm. Maybe I could sell those at events. Experience has taught me I can't sell armor to save my hide, so I'm thinking about diversifying.

That's cool, i had no idea they were period. Do you have any reference material that shows a pic of the one at Basel cathedral?

I would imagine these would sell like hot cakes. I do 1812 re-enactment too and at one event. which happened to be on mother's day, I saw a smith sell all 200 he brought with him.

I'm actually making a bunch on iron ones right now for a friend to sell for a charity thing. And I've decided to make 12 on them to send to my g/f while she's in Belgium for her B-day
