Because I'm not starting back to sewing until next week, I had my squire Ingram sew together all of the pieces I had laying around for his new harness. Sorry about the flattened rapid rivets, but they are so flattened that they easily pass the ten foot rule.
Knees were a gift or trade from somebody cool. He made the elbows years ago. Modern points for now- we will be braiding thick linen thread for a week to replace them.

Knee was blackened on the grill using animal fat.

Greaves were wet formed over his naked leg. Dried, then-flash hardened in boiling water. 1 second dunk. I should have taken pics of the sides- very cool.

So, did you shape the "underment" first, then mate the top layer to it?
When I did mine, (which are full sized both layers, and wrap all the way around) I traced one out on paper grocery bags, to fit my thigh, then starting from the center, ran the rivets and sort of naturally "curved" it to fit.

I can't remember which I did first. I laso can't remember every step I use right now.
I WILL publish a tutorial on how I do it.

Hi there
Is it historically fairly common to point through a floating knee like that? I am getting designs together on some splinted armour and haven't nailed down what to do with the knees yet and wondered if this could represent a historical method? Currently I am looking at riveting the cuisse to the poleyn, but I do like the look of the points.
Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but those knees look somewhat familiar

Either way, looking very sharp!
