Post by Gryffinclaw »

I started putting my scrap aluminum to use and made a few of these. Turned out very light wieght, although I had to increase the pattern size to fit my manimal hands.

Sweet!

Hey, would you mind posting a pattern of that? Even a photo of the pattern would be nice.

I like how shiny it is, too!

Ok here is the pattern and a pic of the stump I used. All three parts got dished in the same stump so the parts would line up better. I then used a 1 1/4 inch wood holes saw to slowly bore the hole in the front for the rattan to stick through.

Note. I am still using my first version of this hilt after 3 years of fighting regularly. I only now just repolished it.

Thank you! That's rather simpler than the one I was planning to cut out tomorrow and work on. I will probably just use your pattern instead.

I love the sharing here on the Archive.

Please post your work when you finish so I can get some feedback on the pattern. I fould this hilt mounts best if after you bore the 1 1/4 inch hole you insert it on the rattan past the point that you plan to mount it then install a hose clam or strapping tape ring around the rattan. Then slide the hilt back down to the clap/tape. A simple screw in the end is enough to keep it in place from moving laterally.

Good luck.

You should bring this to pennsic with you.
I suck at resizing patterns from pictures.

Alas the home fiefdom will not allow my presence at Pennsic. I will try to redo some photos on graph paper but if u have access to a copier or office supply store have them expand the photo until the inches on the ruler depicted equal a real inch and you will be sized correctly.

Good luck
