My scales on my scale armour are 1 1/4" x 2 inches, with a 6 hole pattern, scalloped bottoms, and overlap side to side as well as up and down. They are 20g stainless, and are flat (ie not dished and not fluted) Of course, it remains unfinished.....to quote someone from the archive (forget who) "Now i know why the Romans had slaves."

Scale looks great, but ack!!!! Time consuming, and potentially very frustrating if you make an error, that you notice 200 hours into your creation.

I'm using 1 1/4 inch by 1 3/4 inch scales, scalloped at the bottom, with a flute running from the top of the flat edge to 1/4 inch away from the scalloped edge, four hole pattern (two in each corner), they will not overlap side-to-side (only up and down), and am using 20 guage stainless.

To quote Craig, "Of course, it remains unfinished.....to quote someone from the archive (forget who) "Now i know why the Romans had slaves.""

I have seen some authentic scale pieces, of roman origin, the were about as wide as an average thumbnai, similar bottom edge curve as a thumbnail about half again as long and slightly convex.
