I would like to show my "just finished today" armouring tools.
A few more are in the que.
This will be the largest order I have attempted so far.



We have a no outside welding/torch cutting and grinding fire restriction in place.
I wish it was not 106° F. in the shade.
I also wish I did not have to wear a back brace.
I also wish that the 8" right angle grinders were not so heavy and cold beer grew on trees.

Hmmm... I will have to think about that.
Do you wish to learn sculpture, tool making or armour pounding?
I will have no more apprentices, however this place needs a good clean up.
Looks like Sanford and Sons around here.

Lots of used tools to cull.
Need truck for outgoing metal scrap and dump run.
Shop clean up and organize.
It is getting where I can not lift this stuff.

This will not happen in this heat.

Hal I would like a tool holder, rivet holder and fluting stake like the one I'm the far right of the last pic.

How much would you charge?

well when it cools off, if you need help cleaning and stuff let me know.

Right now I am more interested in learning a little about metal pounding
and shaping armour. i do have a pick up truck and i can bring the beer
and flesh to char if you are ever interested let me know. I will do you
one better i will even bring my own metal and a few tools.

Nice looking tools Hal! good to see you cranking them out. Can I put a page on my site with any of your metal tools again? I like having them on there.

I own almost all the tools Halberds makes, they all kick ass and his service is even better. If you want to shape metal ,get some.

I'd love to learn more about making armor from you, and some insight on making more tools.
I've got a truck, but I'll need to get it fixed before I take it on any road trips. Where in the motherland are you?
What's your flavor on the icy cold ones? I'll drop by our local orchard and pick a bushel for you.
And like Lanars, I can bring my own tools and metal to save any wear and tear on yours.

And hey, if you've got tools and metal to cull, I'll be happy to take them off your hands!

I'm no armorer but those tools look right sturdy. I have an idea of how those pieces are used...nicely done, although my compliment is unqualified. Would love a beer tree myself. A scotch and irish whiskey one too. lol

Really looking forward to getting these tools and setting up my new shop. I finally have the space to start doing some serious armour work. I am completly new to pounding steel however so if anybody is willing to teach me in the Portland, Oregon area they can use my fancy new tools from halberds.

"New tools for a member"?! Yeeeouch!

The 3/8" by 1" socket is for the finger gaunt tools.
That is why I call it a universal tool holder.

OK... How much for a Flute-O-Matic fluting machine?

On the issue with the grinder.I learned this from a job as a young man working in a welding shop.Take a spring strong enough to support the grinder.Hook it to an overhead support(beam,joist)attach it to your grinder.(some grinders have an eyelet for that..The spring or bungle will take a load off.I have a stand with an arm overhead.Can be moved around.I use a chain to adjust how high the grinder is.The spring I have is strong enough that if adjusted too high will make me push down on the grinder.On the beer.I don't have a tree but I do have a kegerator.Noticed you live in Texas.I live 45 miles north west of Ft Worth.

The grinder suspension works.
Years ago I did that with a large air grinder for polishing industrial equipment.

I grind outside with nothing overhead.
However... I do have some sq. tubing.

I'm 45 miles west of Ft. Worth.
Perhaps in the fall we can hook up with the other Texas pounders.
Camp out with BBQ and beer.

Outside?That sucks.I have a 30X50 shop with rollup doors on both ends.I'm 5"6,140lbs.That big grinder gets heavy real quick.I'm new at pounding armor.Banged on car bodies some.So I have some hammers and stuff.Been welding since I was 12.Got a mig welder,torch,and a plasma cutter.

A meetup in the fall sounds good.I have tons of camping gear and a 20ft car hauler turned into a toy hauler.Got a '07 F350 to pull it.

I used to use 2 pulleys with a counter weight to suspend my angle grinder. It worked pretty good but now I just grind less :0)

Tool making for me is 5% welding and 90% grinding.
The other 5% is beer drinking.

for me it is 10% grinding, 80% welding

That must be my problem.

I'm at 90% beer drinkin.
5% metal working.
And 5% swearing.
