Recently I bought a set of Lamellar plates from Polar Bear Forge :
http://www.polarbearforge.com/lamellar.htm plate No 8.
However I am unsure what style or period they are from, any suggestions before i go blundering into a mix match kit ?

I don't have access to Thordeman's book with the awesome chart of lamellar plates, but I would say those are a fairly generic form of tombstone shape that could be used for Persian or Byzantine armour.

hmm odd, I was looking around las night some more and found nearly exactly that plate in an 8th century excavation in Korea ;
http://www.google.com/imgres?q=Korean+l ... 29,r:9,s:0There could be a chance of movement though over time, I'll go byzantine I think cheers.

There are 61 different plates in Thordeman's chart and none of them match plate 8 or 8b from Polar Bear Forge. One of the Tibetan ones is close. I've seen one from 6th C BC Cyprus that is close too, but I can't find any that have those same lacing holes.

I think i've also seen that Tibettan one, the Byzantine kit still has the most apeal though. To be fair lamellar plates seem to get around and the basic shapes have probably been used everywhere at one time or another so it may not matter too much abut the hole patterns.
