I have some shovel greaves and was wondering what the consesus was on the best way to strap them. D-rings and straps or strap and buckle ?
Something else ?
They're for SCA combat.

Re: Advice on Strapping Greaves ?
Shovel greaves. As in fronts only.
I made a set of them for SCA use. I found that they work really nicely when I run one strap just above the top of the calf. Since mine (and yours) probably aren't skin tight, I found that putting the strap inside and starting it farther in, not right at the edge makes the top strap work like a garter and hold very nicely.
I also have a strap around the narrow part above the ankle.
It helps a lot if the front of the greave actually fits your leg. That helps it stay up where it should be instead of sagging down onto the top of the instep.
I use straps and buckles. That is what they would have used.
