Re: WIP Damascus steel gauntlets, updated daily
Sorry for not posting for some time. The written part really took some time, but now they are almost finished. Only the inner leather gloves to be done.
Fitting the lames was really a pain in the *ss, because every hammer strike had to be done hot. And after hitting I had to wait for the piece to cool down for fitting, and if it was not good heat it again and... Also the cuff plates are quite small because the material was just so difficult to spread even with power hammer. If I had had more time I would have been able to make them more refined, but I am quite happy with them.

My initial reaction was "holy sh*t!" Any chance of getting some shots of you (or anyone) wearing them?

Re: WIP Damascus steel gauntlets, updated daily
Having gone to the effort of making articulated gauntlets from damascus steel, I think the community would greatly appreciate many more photos. Closeups, when worn, from far away, etcetera etcetera.
Just out of interest, how many hours did this project take all up? How did it break down?

Re: WIP Damascus steel gauntlets, updated daily
Thank you for the compliments!
I won't be able to take any new pictures until about two weeks, since the gauntlets are now to be reviewed by my teachers. I did not have
any time to take extra pictures, since the project was ready only hour and a half before the deadline.
The took about 200 hours to make, not including the written part. I am quite happy with them, but extra 50 or maybe even 100 hours would
have perfected them. There are some gaps in the articulation, the cuff plates are too small and etching did not work as planned. But next time (not very soon) I wont hopefully have any stupid deadlines and can spend as much time as I want.
