armour stand plans help?

Post by muttman »

Does anyone know where I can find a set of plans to build a breakdown armour stand? My search Fu stinks and came up with way, way too much material!
Thanks!

Search with "breakdown" and "folding?"

There are lots of different armour stands (or links to them) on the archive. It really depends on what you are using it for, how sturdy does it need to be, how far does it need to break down, and your woodworking skill level.

Can you be a little more specific with what you are looking for?

I did search with breakdown and folding- I found a picture of one I can use, thanks! I'm a little confused looking at the pic as to how it breaks down though.
Big Fred-I'm looking for something easy to break down and set up at events, day events or camping, fairly sturdy as what armour I do wear is all steel, and my woodworking level is pretty high- I'm a custom finish carpenter. I have a bunch of 2X4s and a bunch of hinges I can work with left over from other projects which I looked at and said "huh, that looks like an armour stand waiting to happen"
Thanks all!

If it's like this style, one of the bottom 'leg/base' hinges has the pin set to be removable (and tethered to it so you won't lose it!) The just be sure to file/sand down the pin a wee bit (and a small dab of grease/lubricant) to make life easier during set-up/tear down.

Ok, that makes sense! I wasn't thinking about a removable pin, thanks! Yes, i can totaly make that and if my tools don't wind up staying on the jobsite next week I think i will
Thanks Ian for that missing puzzle piece, thanks everyone else for the help in locating it in the first place!
