WWW.McMastercarr.com In the search box type: perforated steel sheet
They take credit card orders and can ship it in various sizes. Be careful to pick a perforation pattern that falls within SCA guidelines. And make sure it is thick enough.
The mild steel is reasonably priced. The stainless is expensive.

kevin, I'm suprised you didn't pass this along from the Midmof list:
Greetings,I have had several persons ask me about the perf metal for the helms.
Many larger cities will have a metal supply place that may carry it.
When I purchased mine, I ordered it over the internet from
McMaster-Carr. I am in no way advertising for them. I am just going to
give the info of what I got. If you want to contact them, you can do a
simple search for them on the net.
For their perf metal the part number was 9255T631.Size is 36"X40" sheet.
Hole diameter is .125" (1/8")pattern was staggered
center-center measure was .1875" (3/16")thickness was .060 (16g.)
These specs meet SCA standards.
It cost me $37.55 a sheet and I have done 5 helms with that sheet and
have enough left to do about 7-10 more depending on the helm type. If
you know of several people in your area needing the metal, you may be
able to go in together and each pay a small share. Leftovers can be
used for a number of things, including covering openings in ring daggers
so they are usable for epee.
Hope this helps, and thank you to those who have made this project
successful for me.Ld. Edward Mercer

Guy--
I had ended up deleting the Mid-MOF message and so couldn't cut and paste it

By the way, Guy, are you saying that you are making rapier helms currently?
