Moldy Armour

Post by Lukeocracy »

So i dragged a torso out of my basement after a couple years of not looking at it and all the leather bits are covered with mold :( . What is the best way to clean armour? I thought it would be a good idea just to have as many tips for different armour as possible on this thread to try and get a comprehensive list. But, my armour in particular is aluminum and leather. So, post your armour cleaning tips! Post away!

Most things off this list would likely work.

Depending on how bad off it is - I would suggest either saddle soap from your local tack / farm store.

Barring that, a mild laundry detergent with a bleach mix of 1 part bleach to 10 parts soapy water.
Otherwise the above linked thread has some good information in it.

All that. Wipe at it with a sponge moistened with that bleach solution. Your mix is right when it is milky colored. Typical bleach disinfectant solutions are one volume of bleach out of the bottle to one volume of water. Removing mold without killing your leather isn't tough. Most of fixing neglected leather is getting some oil back in it anyway. You do that next.
