In TOMAR, it shows a side profile pattern for (I think) a Klappvisor so you get the proper shape.
Does anyone have side profile patterns for Bascinet klappvisors, etc.? Does anyone know if patterns such as this are posted anywhere?

I think Mac should make a book with drawings, templates, profiles etc. on this topic. Go Mac, go!

If what I saw in the previews was accurate, there will be pretty large scale sketches from Mac in Doug's (Talbot's) books. They will give you a good basic idea of the desired geometry and the rest of the books will show lots of examples.

The pattern (as usual) depends on how you plan to make the thing and which one you are copying. Our most sweepy ones were made from 2 piece patterns. that let us have a nice point and some good volume on the outside. There is no reason you can't just raise it from a straight cone instead.

The pattern will also depend on whether you want to flair the outside or raise the rest. Raising most of it in can let you maintain good thickness in the eye area.

I normally hate re-drawings, but those are good.

Those are from Claude Blair's "European Armour" - you should own a copy if you don't already.

The drawings for Doug's book are similar, but with a head inside so you can see how the thing is intended to fit. Mac or Doug can correct me if I am mis-remembering.

I have a fiber glass cast of that helmet at my house if people want to see it. It has some real shape.

Yes, I scanned it from my copy; an excellent book. Can't wait to add Doug's book to my collection, though. :)

And I'd love to see the fiber glass cast. Mo' knowledge mo' better!

Thanks Konstantin. :) Its being worked on a bit at a time. Most of my attentions and efforts have been focused on the rapidly advancing wedding; I'm making a lot of stuff for it, and the smaller milestones leading up to it. I've got my eye on the upcoming Memorial Day weekend...going to build myself a mini raising forge, which will make many things much faster and easier. Going to spend that whole three day weekend in the shop, if I can.
