finally got something done!

Post by doner765 »

hey guys,
ive been busy with this project since august ..
i'm not entirely happy with the final piece, i screwed up the articulation part, it has a tendency to pop and has unpleasant gaps.

The artist is his own worst critic. The lines are great to my eye. Are these the first legs you've made?

Why the long leather tabs to hold it up?

Do you have a plan to hold them up that's different than lacing them to an aketon or arming jacket?

If the gaping of the lames really bothers you, you could always replace the offending lame. I've had to do that a time or two... maybe five... okay, I have a table of old lames, reminding me to check and then re-check the fit and function before punching that final articulation hole. :)

Not perfect, but a damn good try. Looks good and it looks like a really fun (and difficult). I dig the hand-made hinges and buckles.

thank you very much for your good feedback! ;)
the long leather tabs are there, because the cuisse came out a little shorter, it could be 1-3 inches longer ;) ( already corrected in the pattern folders ;D )

yeah i could replace those lames and redo the articulation, but really, it looks quite tight in compressed state and its not going to be worn in combat :)

it was quite difficult project, it were the first hinges and edge rolls i made ( you can spot some wrinkles on the right cuisse, which was the very first roll :) )

also i find that the cop is too shallow, which make a clean articulation very hard, next time i will make them deep again :)
