Any advice?
I can make guesses, but assumptions make....my fingers hurt.

It helps ice falcon sells EGG gauntlets, may help if your searching for options.
it varies a bit, personally I like adding piece of leather say 1 inch or so across the finger tip plate and the thumb.
These make a little pockets and keep your fingers where they need to be.
the leather bits can be cut a little large with trapazoid tabs to make lacing easier if your working with heavier leather.
Much like tab construction on the top a great helm.
Add a strap across the knuckle of the articulation plate about 3/4 or so wide and you should be all set.
Use something like a 5oz leather with a bit of flex and you should be able to avoid cutting the trapazoid tabs.
If your using vegtan leather wet forming the stitching lines can make assembly easier.
The glove can also be stitched into the tabs but avoid going though both top and bottom layers.
I see this sometimes when doing inspections and it shortens the fingers by 1/2" or so and effects the grip and over all fit.
I'm not sure why people do this the first time, let alone continue when the gloves wear out.

With my EGG gauntlets, I sew the fingertips in (using the holes already there) and then 'lace' (with 72" boot laces) the palm and lower thumb, using the rest of the holes provided.
