Although it is not specified, judging from the grill, I would say it is legal for sca combat. Or someone thinks they know it all and "knows" that a bargrill is historically acurrate!
Coming from the authenticity angle... You can't really place the mittens with the bascinet, can you? Looks like someone got a hold of SCA stuff somehow, doesn't know what it is, and figures that anyone that pays 130 is going to be ripped off....

So Accdnprn decides to try to out bid me, eh? Guess I'll wait to get the response back on the questions I ask before I go TOO hight on that little deal.
Check out his/her member name, central pawn, and the other stuff he/her is selling. I really don't think they know what they have here. That is a very nice bascinet, and the gauntlets are damn good too. And no reserve? If stephen wouldn't have posted it here, someone could have gotten off with a steal. Not that they won't anyway. I could see someone paying around $600 for all that easily.

No offence to the seller but what's the chance that these items are hot? I'm fairly sure that's a pair of Mandrakes Gauntlets and when I purchased a pair 18 months ago they were worth AU$300. I don't know much about how e-bay ensure that items are not stolen. He has a wide assortment of items auctioned so far, tools, knife, watch. Maybe it's just me but it might be an idea to send a e-mail to the Senechals of the SCA groups local to Kansas City saying something like 'Is anybody missing this armour'.
Having said that, if it's not stolen then that helms beautiful and I swear by Mandrakes gauntlets.
Was I wrong to post that here? I never thought of it the way eldric put it. I just thought some of the people here would like to have a chance at it. It was posted under jousting when I did a search. I joust so I always type that in first before sca or armour. I apologize if some of you were already keeping an eye on it before I posted it.
You were in NO way shape or form wrong to post that auction, dude. You did absolutely NOTHING wrong. Everyone here posts cool auctions (usually when they're not going to bid on them, that is) Anyone who finds a deal like that HOPES to fly in under the radar. It doesn't always work that way.
So what I want to know is if accdntprone has the time for working on articulated arms and the money for bidding on Ebay auctions then why don't I have my shields that he cashed my $60 check for on January 31st?
I think I just proved I'm not an armour whore. Or at least I'm not a CRAZY armour whore. I didn't feel like spending $500+ for this bit. If I'm spending $500 on a helm, it's gonna be custom!
