Pigface bascinet without raising...

As I sat in the lunchroom eating a piece of birthday cake and celebrating a coworkers birthday, I took a look at one of those happy birthday conical hats with the elastic string that goes under your chin.
Curiously, I took it apart. Now, this may sound crazy, but could you use a birthday hat like this one for the nose on a pigface bascinet? It looks like you can just cut this pattern out of steel, roll it into a cone shape, and weld it.
Odd or feasible?

It would look pretty weird. Although possible, in it's own little way, it would not have the right aesthetics. I'm thinking it would kind of remind someone of a bird beak.
It's still a lot easier to just weld up the halves.
Not bad thinking though. Everything I see could have something to do with armour.

Clay, would you like a welded pig pattern?
There not that hard to do, but you will still
have to do a little extra to make it look right.

Clay, I've been toying with the idea for a while now, but nothing beyond a few card patterns.
It all depends on which particular visor you're trying to copy, some a very close to a cone. I even found a pattern on the web, may have been Cad's.
The main thing is to allow extra metal at the seam for flaring at the top. You will still need to flare around the sides and bottom edges and the mouth and eyes ofcourse.
It's certainly possible. All the best with the project.

Most of the pigs you'll see are made from welded cones. You'll still need to raise the ocularia and the mouth, but that's a lot easier than raising the whole cone.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Before yesterday, I was under the impression that you had to raise the entire face, but that's not the case.

Im working on my second pigface from Master Cads pattern. the first I cheated and cut out the Occularum and welded in the shape, this took close to nil for hammering skill but seemed to carry on forever with welding and grinding the get a nice smooth line around the occularum.
the second im doing is out of 14 guage to make the hammer work a bit easier, and as I dont plan on fighting much more than Pas in this visor, I figured it could take the occasional winking eye look and I wouldnt mind hammering it back out:-) so its getting raised.
If I can make a decent looking pigface out of this anyone can:-).
OH BTW the first was side pivoting. I just added a chunk to the sides and fitted it to the helm.

Even if it is a birthday, I still can't get over that you guys wear party hats at work!
