Adam,

Unfortunately I don't have the patterns you are asking for, but I would like to make an observation. Your request for these patterns is framed in a rather rude and churlish manner. It is in fact framed more in the nature of a demand than a request, and to be blunt it's the kind of thing that generally won't get you the kind of response you want here. It will often get you verbally attacked by the populous.

I wish you luck with your project and hope that you will keep this in mind when you have needs in the future.

Unfortunately typing things wrong on purpose doesn't work as an excuse.

unortunately telling me to keep my comments to myself won't get me to help you.that's not how i work sorry if i appeared rude though. I am not going to give you patterns but i know someone who can help you. if i remember rightly Halberds has made one before. i am certain he could give you some very helpful hints. i agree with cailean though. talking like that will get you flamed.

Adam,
Ok, coming to a board and talking the way you have is a SURE way of making sure that NO one will help you out.
Most of the people here make armour for a living (or at least one source of income) and give out patterns out of the goodness of thier hearts. So telling someone who, in my opinion, is one of the most helpful people on this board to "keep your comments to yourself" will, in fact, encourage him to do so. And that would be a shame especially for those new people who are looking for patterns and have learned at least the basics of manners from thier kindergarden days.
Thanks and I hope your day gets better...

A Muscle Cuirass is something that will be very difficult to find a pattern since you are raising a piece of metal either by cold or hot hammering. Most likely it will be hot and it is many hours of work to raise it. To make a cuirass is like creating a work of art. It takes a great amount of skill to move the metal into the shape you want it to. I have apprenticed to Patrick Thayden the past four months and I too had visions of making a Muscle Cuirass. Since working with Patrick, I have realized the work, skill and dedication it takes to be able to create such a piece. I am not trying to discourage you but I would suggest an easier roman type armor such as the Lamellar. I am presenttly making some which I got the pattern off this archive. The armor is turning out great and it is a challenging project but not a daunting one. Lorica Segmentatta would even be a easier project to do than the Muscle Cuirass. I wish you luck on your project...

Adam, out of curiosity, why are you wanting to make a muscled Roman cuirass? Those were rarities in the Roman army and were worn mostly by stinking wealthy officers. For a more accurate (and more functional) project, check out a lorica segmentata.

P.S. Ronnin, how are you doing man?! (It's Parker...the guy that made your shield). I need to come by Patrick's armory and pick up my Coppergate helmet book. Oh, and I recently started construction on my corbridge type A lorica...so I'll have to bring that by and show you 8)

I haven't had this much fun since I watched the pigs eat my little brother!
