or more likley sleeves.
i got bored today and made one. just a sleev, gona atatch it to... something... dont know what yet. thing is i'm having trouble bending my arm further than 90 degrees, is there some trick to elbows or am i just making it to tight a fit?
i grabbed the patern off a shirt of mine, it had reasonably loose sleeves so i fugured they would work, aparently not.
OH, and how do you fix the spiral thing(a row that just keeps on going... and going... and going...) i managed to do that at the cuff

Thanks

The dreaded enless spiral Image
Odds are that somewhere along the line you accidentally dropped a row and created a contraction. You could go back and redo the whole area below it or just use another expansion/contraction to even the rows out.

I'd like to see a picture of this spiral - I've been doing maille for 5 or so years now and I've never seen one.

Dont have any pics. But when it normally shows up is along the outer edge of pieces you're joining, like on a sleeve of the bottom of a shirt, whene the pieces just dont match up. If you try to work around the piece hopeing to to even the rows out you end up spiraling the row all the way around the piece. I did this alot when I first started because I would try to weave the whole piece in 1 mass and then try to close up the sides. I would find it didn't always match. Nowdays I weave in patches and join them so it's less easy to accidentally drop a row creating the expansion/contraction area when when I would just lay the piece down and pick it up later and start a new row over the unfinished one. Hope I havent been too confuseing.

There's an easy way to make sure it matches.
It's kind of complicated at first, but if you keep track of how many rings there are in each row, and how many rows there are supposed to be, you can make anything numerically perfect.
I did this with my shirt, and also used an odd number of rings so that I can have a footman's slit in the exact center of the front of it.

Also, when joining, make sure that the first row of the first piece is going in the same direction as the first row of the second piece.
That way, it's near impossible to screw up.

Lastly, that spiral thingy might just be useful for decorative purposes. I'll have to fiddle with it.
Anyone know what Dragonscale weave is?

DragonScale is a decorative weave the is simular to euro 4n1 hung 90 degress to normal. It make nice belts and bracelets. I have one that I've nearly finished for myself.

Try these links for more info:

Ive been making maille for about 8 years, and ive never done a spiral. although i can easily imagine it. in fact if it was done on purpose it could be a way of making it so the contraction down the arm was never in the same position - ie iliminating a 'seam' line.
