How many rings will it take for a full maille hauberk? I know it depends on the size of the person... I am a small guy. 5'5", 140 pounds. ANd I am not looking for an exact number - jsut an idea. I want to order some rings and make a maille hauberk but I am trying to decide how much to order. any formulas for figuring this out? like, how many rings it takes for a square foot or something? any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!

Wow, someone I can relate to Size wise. I'm also 5' 5" and hover between 135 and 140.
My waist length byrnie with 1/2 sleeves, out of 16Ga, 5/16 I.D. totals to about 15,000 rings. Sleeves by themselves are about 2,000 each. I'm planning a skirt that should total another 5,000 rings. This is with a 120 ring count per row for a 40" chest.
I'd estimate a full length hauberk with full sleeves to be around 25,000 rings, assuming 16Ga, 5/16" I.D. 1/2 sleeved one would be around 20k.
Hope this helps.

But to answer part of your question,
DeCordene Wireworks has a materials calculator built into thier website - and Lord Charles is very nice to work with to boot.
