How to fix dents?

Post by Oswaldamar »

Hi all,

I recently received a helm with many dents in it. Being realtivly new to armouring I have a question. How do I remove the dents?

with a round faced hammer, from the inside, into a dish or a sandbag.

You might try a book on auto body fabrication for tips on this kinda question.

Or, a steel ball stake on the inside and a plastic/wooden mallet on the outside. A steel hammer could be used as well.

To be PC.... One must ask... "Do the dents want to be removed"....

:D

Edited to add....
"What if those dents have significant meaning and stories of the previous owner?

It would be a disgrace to remove them....

Add your own"....

then he shouldn't have sold it.

I vote for wood stake w/ hammering from outside. Easiest without disassembly. A ball and round poll from somewhere that carries wooden fencing. Usually compressed wood. hard woods also work. Soft woods absorb too much energy. 8)

Just remember to work from the outside edge of the dent in toward the center - you'll get better results.
