How do you make them?

I was thinking of inserting welders strikers along the edges.
Drill and epoxy the flints along the edges.

I was looking for maximum sparks as the edges were struck together.

Rig up a low voltage power supply (car battery or so) with the + pole to one sword, and the - to the other. When the swords are in contact, you'll get a nice big totally unrealistic spark, and will damage the edges of the weapons at the point of contact.

In practice, this requires some kind of wiring from the battery to the swordwielders. This could in principle be done through contacts under the feet of the swordfighters, and then a THICK wire up the leg and arm to the sword. A thin wire may get hot and burn the wearer. This also means that the ground they step on needs to be prepared, with a conducting + and - section, where both fighters should make contact with opposing polarities on the ground if they want to get the sparks.

That's basically what they did for "Highlander." I hear the guys in that were suddenly wondering why they were wired up to electricity and standing in a puddle...

A rough Titanium edge striking another throws sparks too, without the electricity or ground prep.

magnesium works well
or so I hear.

I've heard magnesium, too. It also really heats up the blade.
