Sawz-All for cutting stainless

Post by Cat »

Hey all,
I don't know if any of you have tried using a sawz-all to cut stainless or not, but we used one to cut 1.5mm stainless and it worked great. (have no idea what gauge that is) In fact, we just used an old metal blade that was already in it, and that had been used before. Didn't even need to change the blade.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to share. And by the way, it was a visor we were cutting out, but I have a feeling that even if it were something larger, the blade probably would have held up, because it's still good enough to be used again.

1.5mm is about 16ga.

A sawz-all is pretty much an over-powered jig-saw or saber-saw. I imagine it was loud and jerky and the handle shape made it difficult to do as a single person without clamping the helm to a work surface. Also the depth of the blade is usually too great to make decent curves.

I've used a sawz-all on 1/2" rebar and 1/4" plate. It chewed them up like no tomorrow. I still prefer my 5/8 hp dewalt saber-saw and/or harbor freight throghtless shear for armor work... for me its a control issue.

But if ya wanna rip through a wall including nails, reinforcing brackets, occasional steel-clad wiring and other construction crapola the sawz-all is the tool of choice (right behind the sledge hammer)

happy cutting
Sean
