Pig-Faced visors - Eye slots

Post by Mike F »

Hounskull? Oculara? I can't remember how to spell those, so I can't use them in the title. :)

I'm currently making tools and practicing for my next harness (I'm short some tools for my current project, so I'm in a bit of a dead zone) and I'm trying to figure out exactly what to do to make the eye slots for my visor. I have a small stake I made with two widths and beveled edges, and it actually seems to make a decent if painful to planish edge, but I'm looking for any information on how to do this the smart way.
It's up to you now.

I've used an occularia shaped dcut out in a stump and a bal pien to push the metal out.

Then I used the end of a 1" bar (polished) as a planishing stake fr the occularia. Use the edge of the stake for the center flute and the corner for the end flutes. cut out the occularia after forming and sanding with a dremel tool and fiberglass cut-off wheels. File out from there.
