I purchased one of those indian high comb morions and now need to see some examples of bar grills added to them.

My thought is to make a frame that will fit against the brim. With on central vertical bar down the face and the usual 1" bars horizonatally to make the cage.

I'm wanting to make it so that the grill itself "encases" the face much like the hockey helmets do and aid in keeping the helmet on the head. To do this I would like to put the grill on a hinge at the top or perhaps the side, and have two straps attached to the grill, that go through the brim and buckle or snap behind the head..... have I lost you yet ????

I've got my brother in law who will be doing the welding so that's not an issue, I just need to see some good examples of bargrills on a morion so I can get an idea of how to go about it exactly.......

Quasi off-subject...... this is a neat little helm actually, shame it's not 16g or I could see it being used for adults..... I padded it and stuck it on my boy and tossed a few shots to it and found it really hard to land a good solid shot coming down..........

Look at the nice grills Adam makes for his kettle helms.

I can pick up used street hockey grills from a used sporting goods store for about $5, so it is really hard to see the advantage of welding a custom grill for a youth combat helm. If the shape of the face opening on the morion is too peaked to be accomodated by trimming in the sides of an existing grill then perhaps you could add a metal band (painted black) across the front at about forehead level and attach the trimmed hockey grill to that.

The advantage would be the satisfaction of being able to make one. And at $2.00 for materials I'm ahead of you
