finger scales question
I'm in the process of making my first finger gauntlets, and have them completed up to the fingers. I have all of the scales cut out and shaped, and waiting to be punched and riveted to the leather. I'm wondering, if I use one rivet on each scale, will I have problems with the scale turning out of place? I was looking at PoD's gaunts, and there is only one rivet. Is it all a matter of how curved the scales are to keep them in place? Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it. The nail/rivet is already peened down pretty snugly, and the fact that they are overlapped so much and curved will keep them all going in a straight line I should think. If you purposely take a pair of pliers and twist the scale, then sure, you're going to have some problems. But if you're trying to break your finger gauntlets on purpose, then you've DEFINITELY got some problems

It is probably not what you are looking for, but.....
All of the real ones I have played with use multiple rivets. Most have 2 - often they are on opposite sides of a crease running down the middle of the plates, but they seem to be this way even when there is no crease.
I am sure you could make 1 rivet work, but they seem to have used 2, so why not try it that way?
Use really small rivets....

You could also use a wider strip of stiffer leather down the finger. tho, that would probably work best when used with the double rivets, making them (the scales) incredibly unlikely to slide out of place, and much harder to forceably move (say, with a swordblow)
