Seeking instructions for a power planishing hammer....

Post by Kenwrec Wulfe »

Just that. I am in the market to be building one and would like to know if there are any out there, possibly including where to get the parts.

Thanks!
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle

Have Rick at Centaur build you one based off of an air hammer. They have the barstock available and he could whip one up... similar to Doug's... in short order for you... on the cheap, I am sure.

Additionally.. he has a knack for over engineering... so you wont have to worry about it breaking... ever.

That or find out what the stock sizes are for Doug's and make one over at his house. Wouldn't be too hard.

oir build one yourself- you can come look at mine at Gruber's shop anytime. I have a design modification that would make it work much better too.

I started one about 2 weekends ago... finished it then sort of. Working on rev 2.

They're NOT terribly hard to do. It's harder to keep it supplied with air than it is to build. :)
It looked better in my head....
Damnit.

Yes they are power hungry little bastards ain't they....

This is one my friend made for me:

It works like a dream...... Smooth with a high shine....

The VRAH is slower at power planishing; although it will produce some remarkable patterns.

I think this is a very simple machine. If you did a goggle search you will find lots of different ones. Ebay has them all the time.Eastwood Co. has a nice one.

Look around as to what metal you have on hand and make it out of that.
McMaster-Carr has some nice air foot switches.

Have fun,

Hal
