the making of a suit in pictures
Armor bob, I'm not sure I understand this comment "will also stretch this inner line down over a bar though so the outer edge of the wing is not the only place getting major stretching, but this doesn't have to be done to get the same shape." Does this mean that you place the wing over a round bar stake with the axis of the wing crease perpendicular to the axis of the bar and the point of the crease down against the stake? Would the hammering action then be only on the crease so as to curve the tendon guard more? Presumably a thin raising hammer would be used? As you can see I am having a hard time picturing the process here.

Hey, I needed to do some tweaking and temp riveting and other stuff as the client was coming down for a fitting this past weekend. Most went well but I have to let out the waist a slight bit, as well as the cuffs on the vambraces, the most notable change will be on the pauldrons. The plates and angles sat a little odd when actually hung in position while wearing and moving. We ended up needing to remove two of the upper plates and replace them with a single slightly different shaped plate. I'll try and click a pic to show the difference in them tomorrow.
Lorenzo2 I'll try and remember to get a picture of me holding one of the plates in the position I mention along with a hammer to show things more clearly.

Here is a pic as the pauldrons were.
here you can see how the upper two middle plates were removed and replaced by a single plate.
This was done to change the angle at wich the pauldrons hung in the front, and have allowed for more motion when bringing the arms in towards eachother. The look is about the same and still fits with historical examples. The other option would have been to remake or reshape most of the plates. Being this still fits historical examples it works well enough

Hey all, Sorry about the slow response here. There was a bit of size adjusting that needed to be done as well as a few other little projects I had promised to cram in for people. Here is a pic of some of the buckles that were made to go on the suit, couple different styles based on extant examples that will be used on the breastplate, backplate, fauld, tassets, arms, legs, and all those fun bits. I've forgotten at the moment, but there are a bunch of them that needed to be made
There is still lots of good stuff to come, including the helmet. Patrick

Thomas, The buckles are made starting with the outer 8 shaped loop and the center bar is tig welded in. These are all made with 1/8" stock the tongues on the smaller ones being made of 12g wire.
Nick, The item your asking about is just a double ended scribe, it is tapered towards both ends and the square stock its made of is twisted to make it pretty Sorry again about the slow progress shown right now, but I had a few other smaller projects I had promissed to get out that are right now getting finished up. Patrick

I decided to free up some space in my shop and go ahead and finish out some of the parts that are correct and ready to go. Here is a pic of the pauldrons partially polished and polished and temp assembled prior to rivets and leathers.
Feel free to ask any questions or if I missed one somewhere along the way reask and I'll try and answer it this time. Patrick

Guts
I must also observe that you've got a lot of guts putting all of that shiny on concrete without something underneith it.
