This should totally be made into a sticky thread. I only joined about a month or so ago but seeing this first would have helped me out so much. Thank you Patrick for taking the time to post all these progress pictures and Pitbull for bumping this thread.

I've just found this thread and I feel it would be a disservice not to share it
as the hammer falls it sparks,
to light a fire within the soul
forever which it marks
to live within you
it forever leaves

This is sad news.

Is there any straight-forward way on this forum to convert threads to PDFs for personal archives? It is so disappointing to uncover old threads with broken links.

There are programs that allow to download all the pictures in a page, but don't know if there is an automated way to convert a thread in a single file.

Yeah, sorry guys, I just didn't see the point in keeping the site as I've not done any armouring in so many years now. I was thinking someone in the thread had commented that they had downloaded all the photos so perhaps there is a way to reconnect them if someone tech savy knows how I'm game to go back and edit the pages to put in new links to the pictures if someone has them. I think my copy of my website might be on my old computer, but no promises. Patrick

Patrick, I started in the SCA after i believe you retired. I just wanted to say that the Burgonet that Aiden has that you made is one of the most amazing helms I have ever seen. I wish I had one.

Shortly after the end of this thread in 2005 or so, I put all the photos on my computer. I have them all, but not necessairly in the good order. 164 pictures...

That would be cool if you could just put them in a FLICKR or something. :)

Agreed. It would be good to get the pictures somewhere (or several somewheres) so that they don't get lost.

well, if someone can send them to me maybe I can start going back and figuring an order and editing the links to whoever has them hosted? Is there a better way? if I can get my old computer to boot up properly I may have them saved on there in order. Patrick

I am on the way with Tom B. to put them on the archive. The pictures will not be in the good order, sadly.

I have them and I think they are numbered in correct order, I need to check that. Should I put them in google photos album?

Here's all the 172 pics I had. If I remember correctly, there were a pic of a baby inside the sallet? That one I don't have. But I hope they are in right order.

I can't edit the links to incorporate the above images, gives me an error saying img size can't be determined so I won't be able to fix the links from that web gallery. Isn't there an archive gallery that these could be put in that I can then edit the links to reconnect them to the images?

I have had to deal with this as well.
There maybe better ways but here is what I have figured out.

Linking / embedding is the troublesome bit.
Still possible but changing the resolution is more manual (not needed for these images).

For example here is the album with Oliver's images
https://goo.gl/photos/dAqZfbnvviXNnLg89
Image
If I want to link a photo here in this post here is what I do.
I open the album and click on the first photo to open it.
Image
Then I right click on the image and select Copy Image URL
Image
This is a direct link to the image we had open it looks like this:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/gJp_X ... 00-h450-no

I can now put the image in the thread by pasting the link inside of img brackets

I've edited the images back in the best I can at the moment. There are some missing still, if anyone see's somewhere I need to fix it based on the pictures let me know and I'll edit what I can. Patrick

That's a nice thread! I seem to have missed it the first time around.

You've done the Archive a double-service, Patrick...first by taking the time to document your build and share it, and once again for taking the time to reconnect all the missing images. Thank you! It was wonderful getting to revisit this project.
