Hello. This is my first shot at armor. I covered formed plastic with leather. I started three years ago, when I knew much less about armoring than i do today. For opinions... do you think i should finish the job and get the rest of the harness in steel?
or should i chuck the plastic and try to salvage the leather? I could then do splilnted legs and arms. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Leave the plastic, so long as it's covered on both sides. Looks like hardened leather to me in that pic. Are the couters and poleyns steel, or another material (aluminum)?
Either way, I would work on that articulation a bit more - That seems to be too much gap for my tastes. Perhaps investing in a set of 3-piece knees and attaching your cuisses/demi greaves to that.
Great first attempt! I like it. Now, come over to the dark side... steeel...steeeeeeel...

Thanks for the input. the knee and elbow cops are steel. nothing is fastened yet, just taped to my leg. I bet when i do the riveting i can get the cop and the cuisses closer together. i have a huge sheet of steel: 96"*49 5/8"*1/32 inches thick. i have enough for maybe two wholesuits. I planon making the breast/back plate, and pauldrons out of the steel.
We'll see if it works!!!

Dmitriy, Thanks. Took a couple tries but it worked.
As to the armor, I'd say to go ahead and use it. If you're a beginner, armor just gets beat up anyway. As it needs replacing, or you decide you want to replace it, go with something that looks more period.
