Well, THAT was a long weekend! (what did you expect when St. Paddy's day is involved!?!)
Anyway, we scrounged up some new pics at the last practice for you inquisitive types...
Brodir, here's a pretty bad pic of the completed shield. Notice it is now covered in leather (glued to the face and riveted all around), but as a consequence, the edge has become larger (keeping the Marshalls at bay). It really isn't as bulbous as it seems in the pic... It's certainly far superior to anything I've seen yet!

As I type this, he's working on a new heater in the same fashion. Should be pretty cool!...
Sasha, here are some better pics of the pauldrons, as we promised (although a bit late

)...
This is the outside, as it were....

This is the inside...

Notice the butcher job we did to the articulations. We replaced the solid rivets with 'leathers' (nylon webbing- leather rots real quick over here), to give it better range of movement, as is evidenced by...

This makes a huge difference in mobility. The gap in the back lames is there because the pauldron was not designed for this extreme range. I modified this to be similar to the gothic harness on pg. 127 of AAOMK. Several pics of this harness from different angles (and sources) gave me insight into how this stuff is supposed to work. I think the lack of proper articulation in typical SCA pauldrons is why a lot of people are so opposed to wearing them.
As these are, with such crude modifications, the range of motion is almost completely unhindered...
Anyway, hope this helps...
