carbon steel sources

Post by Krag »

I tried using the search function, but found precious little. I know this was brought up before. I'm looking for sources of high carbon sheet: 4130 or 1050/1045. More specifically, I'm looking for sources in NM or AZ. I thought someone was getting from somewhere in AZ. I'm driving out to Las Vegas in May (from college Station TX) and if there's anywhere en route, I was going to bring a trailer and pick up a few hundred pounds.

I just bought some from McMaster-Carr, but this doesn't really help you. I wanted to give this a bump, because I am looking for a cheaper source, but I can't buy several hundred pounds at once. Just a couple of sheets at a time. I also remember the post dealing with this. Maybe the suppliers should be added to the suppliers area in the links page.

The 2 named ones in the previous thread were:

www.admiralsteel.com
www.precisionsteel.com

Admiral is where us old folks bought, precision seems to be cheaper at this point.
