Leather question.

Post by James B. »

This really isn’t about armor but I thought this might be the best place on the board to ask this. I am looking to make a rapier belt for myself and have the fitting I want but I am not sure what weight leather I should use. Also should I treat the leather before I add the fittings? Anyone got some advice?

Thanks

Flonzy

You should use 8/9 oz veg tanned leather. YOu shouldn't need to treat the leather with anything, but periodically you will need to clean the leather with saddle soap.
