Hi, newbie jumping in the game

Hi people, this is my first post so I thought I'd introduce myself... I've always been attracted to the beauty of armour and traditional metal handcrafts in general.. I'm used to metal work and have a bit of a background in sheetmetal work though it's been a few years due to other projects.. Up till recently I've been motorcycle racing and built my own bike but the thrill has long since wanned mainly because the excitement for me was in the building so its time to move on to a new facit of life which is why I'm now here..
I'm not looking to use armour myself or sell it, I just love the aesthetic nature of it and he fact that is an art form in it's own right.. I don't own a single power tool even though my wife has offered to buy me some, most people can't seem to realise I like to cut and file by hand but I guess there are many of you out there that feel the same...
I've been reading a lot of the posts and as usual with places like this there is a great deal of knowledge out there..
I've decide to start of with something basic and the best one appears to be the Great Helm, though I'm finding it difficult to get info on how one is padded internally, any info on that would be appreciated...
I looked on the Newbie resource page and noticed the heading of Hals starter kit but no info on how much or where to contact.. None of the metal working gear I have is suited to the building of armour so I'm going to have to get some of these tools...
well I better get back to it, I'm really excited about this and can't wait to get started, it's been way too long since I got a good nose full of steel filings
