Pennsic taught me a few things about my greave pattern, so I have made some modifications. The inside calf has been rounded to avoid pinching the knee with the leg bent, and the calf now saddles in toward the shin bone to more resemble a shin's contours.

I will have more pictures, showing the profile inthe morning, after they have been strapped.

I also have finally finished a pair of "splinted" cuisses. Thes are my normally hardened 3/4 cuisses, but they have had rivets added to better resemble 14c splinted cuisses.

i just love your stuff man. youve been an inspiration to me since i joined the board. i have made my own pair of shovel greaves, i was wondering what you would think of them.

I can't tell much from that photo. The tooling looks very nice, but at the angle and darkness of the picture, its hard for me to tell how well you did the shaping, etc.

Do you have another picture, or could you describe how you made the greave for me?

its been wet formed to my leg, had that thing and its mate strapped to my legs for 4 hours, and i do have more pics. i have recently made/making a second pair and modified the bottom curve and added another strap above the calf to make for a better fit.

I really like the concept of the design. The tooled applique is quite stunning.

However, I think that you will find some of the shaping is a bit off. I know that you formed the greave on your leg, but the bottom is twisted askew. You flared the bottom of the greave, but it is flat, so it will rest on top of your foot, not wrap around it, so you might have issues with it twisting on your leg.

I think that you did a very good job with the finish, the polish really stands out in the photos. Keep up the good work!

Dan, beautiful pieces. I noticed on the greaves I got from you that they have a bit of a pinch at the top. What should I do to avoid this? Just add some type of padding, perhaps?

Actually, what I had to do was modify the pattern. Let me guess, it is pinching on the inside of your thigh, where the top of the greave interferes with the bend of your knee?

What I ended up having to do is to trim the leather, rounding that inside curve, so that it no longer pinches. Unfortunately, this will possibly interfere with the embossing on your pieces. Email me with pictures, and I will see if there is anything that we can do to make these more comfortable for you.

Actually, I just made the leg and arm defenses for this gentleman's harness. His primary color, in his heraldry is green, so that is what he requested.

your right, and it did do that. i have added another strap which stops the twisting, and cut the bottom to make it a bit ore comfortable, abut it doesnt fix the twist. the twist happened because i did not line it up on my leg correctly. i fixed this in the second pair of greaves i made. these fit a lot better but are for A&S. thanks for the compliments!

Sure, I go and get a set of the green rere and vambraces, and now you go and show me the legs... Now I may have to go see what account I can raid to add to the set...
