How do I make my armor shiny?

Post by James B. »

I have some armor a friend of mine made for me that is dull, not even wire brushed finished. I would like to give it that shiny almost mirror finished look what do I need to use for that, and can I get it at home depot?

Also I have a pair of legs that have the mirrored finish that are getting some rust on them. What can I use to remove the rust and not ruin the mirrored finish?

Thanks

Flonzy

You need a buffing wheel. sand everything with emery cloth starting with a rough grit depending on how much rust there is, down to the finest grit you can find, then start buffing.

If there is only surface rust and the finish is a smooth dull finish, you will most likely only need to buff with a couple of different rouges.

Flonzy,

the stuff i made is wire brushed finished. take a look at the inside versis the outside and you will see what i mean.

if you want it shiner, start with either a buffing wheel or different grades of sand paper and work your way up to the smoothest grain.

as far as the rusting on the new legs, try an sos pad to start and then spray it down with some oil based spray etc to coat it.

I start with a fine wire wheel
then a scotch bright wheel
then a buffing pad
then hand polish with metal glow.
