Hanging round shield

Post by Cerebus »

When putting the straps on a round shield how do you measure and align the hardware?
Or how do you align the hardware on a center grip?

Straps?

Mount your handle to the back of the shield by passing bolts through the ends of the handle and through the flange of the shield boss. You will have cut a hole in the center of the shield. If you are using Mad Matts bosses or ones made to similar specs you can get away with about a 6" hole. I use at least four bolts, 2 passing through the handle and 2 at 90 degrees forward and backward from top dead center. The handle is aligned with the vertical plane of my shield (if this is critical to the display of your heraldry) If like mine your rounds tend to be geometric shapes or solid colours then it is less important.
